Tracy has run two previous Swim Schools in partnership in West Sussex, and has has now decided to set up on her own and run her own Swim School. Tracy was fortunate enough to have been a competitive swimmer at Beckenham Swimming Club, training long hours 6 days a week right up to the age of 21! At that time Beckenham was the best club in Britain under the Olympic Coach at the time Dave Haller. Later on Tracy has trained and swam in the Masters on several occasions, butterfly being her favorite stroke. With the knowledge she has gained through competing and teaching over 36 years, she can offer a wealth of experience. Tracy works to understand and interact with pupils and identifying their individual needs. All pupils are individuals and require different approaches. Tracy will ensure that this will all help to achieving the ultimate goal of being able to swim competently. Tracy has been teaching babies for over twelve years now and enjoys offering such a wide range of abilities. Tracy has recently passed her STA Level 3 Diploma in Aquatic Teaching for Baby & Pre School, she has recently attended a CPD course on Aqua Sensory too! Keeping up-to-date, learning how to improve and adapting to a pupils needs is so important. This is what drives us to provide high standards of teaching.

"After spending my entire childhood swimming competitively, I knew I wanted to share my passion for technique and love for the water. At age 16, and then 17, I completed my ASA Level 1 & 2, respectively, and have been teaching locally ever since. My focus will always be to create a happy, supportive and safe space for my students to develop and reach their full potential." Gail teaches on a Sunday at Handcross but also covers on other days/pools for Tracy.
I have been teaching swimming since January 2016, having achieved my STA level 2 Award in October 2015, I then completed the STA level 2 Certificate in October 2016. Whilst never swimming competitively, I always enjoyed being in the water, until one day I suffered a panic attack in the water and developed a fear of the water. After five years I decided it was to overcome this fear and find my love of the water again, which I managed to achieve. After graduating from Bath Spa School of Art with a BA(hons) in Fine Art, I moved back home to Crawley where I later trained to teach swimming. I think my experiences help me when teaching nervous swimmers. When I'm not in the water, you'll find me in my art studio painting. Abby is working on a Wednesday at Handcross after school and is a regular cover teacher on other days.
I was a water baby, loved the water and was always in our pool, swimming when I was young in Johannesburg, South Africa. We moved to Cape Town in my teens and grew up by the Ocean. Learning to surf and did surf lifesaving where I became a surf lifeguard at the age of 16 in my home town of Fish Hoek, Cape Town. Respect for the Ocean was a must and saving lives in the Ocean became an everyday thing. Swimming every day in the early hours of the morning before school for surf lifesaving and waterpolo, training for life saving competitions and waterpolo tournaments. I moved to the UK in 2012 and became a pool lifeguard at (Virgin Active-Brighton) but I knew I needed to achieve more and wanted to achieve more. So, I got involved in helping with the swimming lessons and that’s when I was offered to become a swimming teacher. I jumped at the opportunity and did my qualification (STA Level 2). It gives me a great sense of achievement knowing that I am teaching kids a life skill, to build their confidence in whatever they want to do. Brad is a cover Teacher for Tracy on a Sunday at Handcross and Ardingly.
